Random Thoughts: Drive Time Observations

Why do people continue to keep those “Dubya” election stickers on their automobiles? Hello! The election is over and there are no “chads” in sight. You showed your stupidity one day of the year, is it really necessary to show it all the other days in the year too?

Speaking of bumper stickers, why is it that you rarely ever see just one bumper sticker on a car? Is there some unwritten rule in the Universe that one bumper sticker is never enough?

And what is with those people who have stuffed animals in their cars? There is never just one of those animals either. It’s like a freaking zoo inside those cars.

You can tell a lot about a person based on the car they drive (and what’s on it, or inside it). After just a few miles of driving, it becomes evident that we need to support abortion for more reasons than one.

I believe people go to far in expressing themselves through the automobile. It's a fucking mode of transportation, not a canvas or an outlet to let everyone know everything about you including your other car is a trailer.

Call me a communist but i think everyone should have the same fucking car.

Hi James,
Good stuff. :-)
I am reminded of the sticker that says: "If you can read this, my trailor has come lose."
Then there's the t-shirt the Harley rider was wearing that said:
" If you can read this, my old lady fell off." lol

Oh, I wanted to update you on the 'epiphany' I had while following your written 'contributions'.

After I realized that linking to words in my blog posts might appease the 'search engine powers that be', I tried it out with my humor posts.

All I did was pick out a word, ( like polititions ), slap it in a google search querry, ( usually linking to the first site in the results, to obtain a link to a page with a high page rank' ), and add an 'alt' tag using the description listed.

I am doing this with several words in each of my posts. The results are links in my posts, ( which google sees as 'very' relevant because of the joke text )!

James, I went from NO page rank, ( or '0' ), to a page rank of '4' literally overnite! ( I also already had the google site map code in my meta tags. I'm sure that helped too. )

If you haven't added these tags to your site's homepage yet, you really should. There's 3 ways to do it, ( I used the easiest way using a free online generator:
http://code.google.com/sm_thirdparty.html

It's the least customizable, but is enough to get it started.

So, there you go! I figured you would find this info interesting, and, just wanted to share. I figure you're savy enough to appreciate it, and besides, you were the catalyst for the idea. :-)

Perspective means everything. Here in LA, I'm annoyed at anyone with a W bumpersticker. But more often, I see Kerry/Edwards stickers and think "Yeah dude, remind them we're still here!"

I still wear my Kerry T-shirt sometimes and get funny looks. People still wear World Series or playoff T-shirts from years past, so why not??

just for info, Google just went thru one of their "Google dances" where they re-spider and re-rank everything. Two of my blogs went from 0 to 4/10 during this "dance". Interestingly, during this period, Yahoo went from 10/10 to 9/10 and for a day or two that I saw, Google ranked their own site lower than ususal...it was (I forget exactly when I saw it) 7 or 8 out of 10. So your rankings may not be due to your links but possibly due to their new rankings. IMO I think they've suddenly realized the value of blogs and given them a higher rank than they used to.

I'm in the Chicago area, so all of our pols are Democrats. I see tons of "labor fixed the vote" and fading Kerry-Edwards stickers on the cars and trucks here. Was there any doubt that the Dems would win in the area known for giving voting rights to the dead?

With all of the corruption in Chicago, I always wonder if the drivers of some of the trucks and cars are giving kick-backs to elites at city hall in exchange for patronage contracts or jobs. You know, the "hired truck" contracts that paid even if no work was ever done. Or, maybe a nice city job on the "ghost" payroll.

You are right. The election is over. The voters voted early and often. Even the dead got out the vote.

Why waste time and money on bumper stickers if they don't mean anything. All it does is draw attention to the "hired" truck being subsidized by taxpayers' money.

The pols know if you've given your "contribution" without needing a reminder of a fading bumper sticker.

And I'm grateful you do! My day is always made better when I get the chance to point at some Democrat in his car with his "Defoliate the Bushes" bumpersticker and say, "<NelsonVoice>Ha ha</NelsonVoice>! You lost."

Thank you for keeping me entertainined. It's the little things in life, you know.
